CRV Xseed recognises the need to build a strong lineup of top beef bull genetics for the South African beef as well as dairy industry. During the past year CRV Xseed has purchased or contracted a large number of beef bulls in collaboration with the relevant breed societies.
In the Angus breed a Black Angus bull was purchased from Joyce’s Angus Stud, namely Mr Consent. He had a birth mass of 32kg. This bull has been used extensively in the dairy industry as a calving ease bull.
The latest acquisition is a Red Angus bull, Joyce’s Mr Straw, which was purchased from the same breeder. The bull’s sire, Mr Strawbaro, was the SA Angus national reserve junior champion bull in 2015. He also represented the Angus breed in the national performance test class. Mr Straw was the bull calf champion 2017 at Agri-Expo Livestock in the Western Cape.
A polled Nguni bull namely Modderrivier was purchased at the Nguni national sale.
An outstanding Bonsmara bull called Ramps was purchased at the production sale of Frikkie Kruger of Boshoff. This bull has outstanding production figures and conformation.
Two new Brangus bulls have also joined the beef lineup – Dozer which was purchased and Rocky the Brangus, that represented the Brangus breed at Nampo, and which was contracted from Bullet Brand Brangus.
