Danie Bruwer (Snr) and his son, Danie (Jnr), of the Makwera Dohne Merino stud near Paul Roux in the Free State, were announced the first Zoetis Intensive Sheep Farmers of the year at ALFA 2018. The Zoetis/ Stockfarm intensive sheep farmer of the year competition that aims to recognise intensive and semi-intensive sheep farmers is set to continue this year.

The winner will be announced on 19 September at the ALFA gala dinner which is the highlight of the ALFA expo taking place from 17 September to 19 September.
The competition is supported not only by Zoetis and Stockfarm, but also by the University of the Free State, the Mamre Initiative and Plaas Media. Participants must be willing to host the judges on their farm during the second part of July and in August. The winner must be available for media interviews.
