The largest hunting club in the world, Safari Club International (SCI) recently knocked the lion industry in South Africa by banning farmers that breed lions in captivity from marketing or advertising the hunting of such animals. These decisions were made during the club’s national convention recently held in Las Vegas in the United States. This is according to a recent article by the Conservation Action Trust.
The United States has previously voiced concerns over fears that lions bred in captivity will not be able to be released successfully into the wild. However, the opposite has been proven in South Africa.
According to Professional Hunters Association of SA (PHASA) there are many misconceptions about the South African lion industry that will be cleared up soon with relevant information. – Andries Gouws, AgriOrbit
