Over the past months, the current owners of Erber Group have led a thorough search to identify the best outside investor to help take the scientific innovations and customer solutions developed by Biomin and Romer Labs to the next level.

They believe that DSM, a leading provider of animal health and nutrition solutions for farm productivity and sustainability, can supply the clout, expertise and support to make this a reality. This is a great fit for all companies from a business, culture and vision perspective as all the companies have similarly deep-seated commitments to sustainability and improving the world’s food production, safety and supply.

Strengthening and accelerating growth

Geraldine Matchett and Dimitri de Vreeze, co-CEOs of DSM, said: “Biomin and Romer Labs will help strengthen and accelerate the growth of our specialty animal nutrition and health offering, including our big data and diagnostic capabilities, and it is exciting to be entrusted to take these family-founded businesses forward. It was immediately clear to us that the people at ERBER Group share our purpose-led mission and will make a wonderful addition to DSM.”

Dr Erich Erber, founder and president of Erber Group, commented: “In DSM, I recognise the mutual values of sustainable stewardship that are so important to us. DSM is the perfect home for our businesses, as Biomin and Romer Labs will be able to use their new scale to intensify our joint contribution to a more sustainable world’s food supply.”

Uninterrupted production and delivery of products

The DSM agreement to acquire Erber Group was announced on 12 June 2020 and will take effect in the coming months, subject to customary conditions and other formalities. In the meantime, the production and delivery of products and services will continue without interruption and the primary points of contact will remain unchanged.

“Biomin and Romer Labs, with their strong science base, are key drivers for future growth and together with DSM we look forward to exploring the amazing opportunities we can unlock by combining our strengths and capabilities,” commented Erber Group chief research officer and executive board member Dr Eva Maria Binder. – Press release, Biomin
