BBC reports that a new trial in Argyll, Western Scotland, uses technology that shines laser beams onto hillsides as a method of scaring white-tailed sea eagles away from flocks of sheep.

Sea eagles are the UK’s largest bird of prey and one of its most protected species. Juvenile sea eagles often prey on lambs and pose a challenge to sheep farmers.

This method is now considered as a humane control method and will be closely monitored.
