A new world record was established at the Dohne Merino Breed Society of South Africa’s national ram sale hosted in Bloemfontein on 21 February. The new South African and world record for the highest price paid for a Dohne Merino ram is now R335 000.  The ram was sold by Frans Marx of Sewefontein in Burgersdorp and was bought by Clark Rattray, Dries Pienaar, At Liebenberg and Julius Beukes.  All rams at the auction were in very good condition and good breeding material was on offer. The 46 rams sold on the auction for an average price of R44 456.
