The November tractor sales of 593 units were significantly (39%) more than the 427 units sold in November last year. On a year-to-date basis tractor sales are now almost 8% more than for the same period last year.
Four combine harvesters were sold in November, one more than the three units sold during the previous November. On a year-to-date basis combine harvester sales are now almost 26% up on the same period last year.
This continuing trend in increasing sales reflects the positive sentiment in the market. This is also borne out by the Agribusiness Confidence Index which is at its highest level in more than six years. Good crops have been harvested across most of the summer and winter-cropping areas. Moreover, weather prospects for the forthcoming summer rainfall areas also look encouraging.
Overall estimates for the 2020 calendar year are now certainly looking better, with sales likely to be almost 10% higher than in 2019. – Press release, South African Agricultural Machinery Association
