A recent appeal judgement made in the Supreme Court in Windhoek will give South African poultry producers another chance to fight a legal battle against the chicken import restriction in Namibia. The restriction was introduced five years ago to protect the Namibian poultry industry that was at its infancy.

The Supreme Court has now ruled in favour of an appeal that the South African Poultry Association and five poultry producers from South Africa, namely Crown Chickens, Supreme Poultry, Rainbow Farms, Astral Foods and Afgri Poultry, lodged against a High Court judgement in which their previous bid to put the restriction aside was rejected.
