The February tractor sales of 648 units were significantly (28%) more than the 505 units sold in February last year. Year-to-date tractor sales are also 28% up on that of last year. In February, there were 14 combine harvester sales, four units fewer than the 18 sold in February 2020.
Market sentiment continues to be very positive. Good crops, in general, good commodity prices, and favourable rainfall in most areas contribute to this. Some variables may still affect summer crops, so there is some caution in the industry.
Nevertheless, prospects look good in the short to medium term. Initial estimates for the 2021 calendar year are quite encouraging, with sales likely to increase by up to 15% compared to 2020. –Press release, South African Agricultural Machinery Association
