A summit on farm killings, murders and stock theft was held at the Manhattan Hotel in Pretoria from 14 to 15 June 2018. The summit brought together key stakeholders in the agricultural industry and focussed on formulating strategies to make farms and other rural areas safer.
Mike Mlengana, director general of the Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) addressed the summit concerning the seriousness of dealing with farm murders and stock theft in South Africa.
“We need to stop pointing fingers at one another with regards to the root causes for these acts of violence. Instead, we must come with workable solutions that are within the laws of our country,” said Mlengana. Click here to read his full speech. – Ntswaki Motaung, AgriOrbit
