A TED Talk event focusing on agriculture was held in Johannesburg in March 2018. This event brought together farmers, technologists, policymakers, entrepreneurs, commodity traders, chefs, analysts, and activists to give a perspective on the exciting changes that the farm is going through, as it transforms to meet the demands of a rapidly approaching future. One of the speakers was Naudé Malan, Senior Lecturer in Development Studies at the University of Johannesburg. He is the convener of iZindaba Zokudla, a multi-stakeholder engagement project that aims to create opportunities for urban agriculture in a sustainable food system in Soweto. Naudé highlighted the need to change the system of traditional agriculture and shares ideas on how it could be done. – Ntswaki Motaung, AgriOrbit
